Posted 4/20/22 RE: Suspected Fraud Alert!

Dear Condo Residents,

On April 19th the Board became aware of suspected fraud attempted by door-to-door solicitors at Big Trout Condos. In an effort to raise awareness, the following details have been compiled for your consideration.

Information and Descriptions:

These individuals say they are with the Washington Voter Research Project in concert with the County Assessor’s Office and the Washington Secretary of State. However, these names are not known by either agency.

Note 1: The two individuals appear to be between the ages of 65 - and 72, and both are gray hair and are about 5' 9" - 5'11”.

Note 2: They do not appear impaired or under any substance and do not appear aggressive or dangerous. However, such solicitation is not allowed as your safety and privacy are essential here at the Villas regardless.

Note 3: They did not possess any identifying badges or hold a current Peddlers license issued and required by the City of Liberty Lake for any business or solicitation to go door to door anywhere in the city legally.

Note 4: They could not provide names related to who they were volunteering or working directly for. After asking about their location, they explained that they did not live in Liberty Lake and were from Spokane County.

Note 5: They knocked on a series of homes before coming to my area, and that is how I came to recognize the conflict. It is our responsibility to protect everyone's privacy. Unless law enforcement, with badges and information, are present when one opens their door, one should question the vendor or solicitor.

If you experience a solicitation similar to the above described scenario, please report to Vicky M Dalton with the Spokane County Auditor by phone 509.477.2262 (message) or email to vdalton@spokanecounty.org.

Respectfully,
Big Trout Condos Board of Directors

RE: Crime Check Notice / Car Burglaries

Your Board of Directors recently became aware of a rash of car burglaries within the condo community and home burglaries in surrounding Liberty Lake neighborhoods.  According to the condo residents involved, car locks were jimmied open and valuables were stolen.  To our knowledge, the burglaries within Big Trout were limited to vehicles and garages, no condos were burglarized.  However, the brazen nature of these crimes in such a well-lit and populous area raises concerns of possible escalation should they return.

Please be vigilant and report all suspicious activity to the Liberty Lake Police Department at (509) 755-1140.  Criminal activity that takes place on Big Trout property should also be reported to the HOA once the police are notified.

Thank you for your time and attention to this email.  While we regret its necessity, we appreciate your watchful eye in collaboration against crime in our community.
